WHY IT MATTERS

District heating in Denmark has mostly been built where density makes it easy. Smaller towns have been left on natural gas, and a handful of troubled projects elsewhere in the country have made consumers wary of the alternative. Helle Energi is a newly established utility connecting around 1,300 households across six towns — earning that confidence from a standing start, on a cost case that has to hold up against what those households pay today.

OUR IMPACT

The usual way to serve a small town is to scale down a standard plant. We did the opposite. Each of the six centres is designed to its own town’s demand, combining heat pumps, peak load capacity and control systems into a single setup per site. Precise sizing is what makes the cost work where the density does not — and it is what makes the model repeatable in the next municipality.

Delivered with local contractors, and developed in close collaboration with Helle Energi, with planning, sizing and stakeholder coordination handled from the outset.

The responsibility remains with one party from concept to operation.

Which heat sources can you integrate?

  • wastewater
  • geothermal energy

Solutions are designed as source-agnostic systems, optimised for local conditions.
