Thermal systems for the
district heating of tomorrow.

IN SHORT

We help European utilities and municipalities decarbonise and electrify their district heating networks, with large-scale heat pump systems and pit thermal energy storage.

WHAT WE DO

From first study to operating plant.
Four stages. One engineering team.

4 REASONS UTILITIES CHOOSE US

Proven at scale
25+ thermal plants in operation across the Nordics and Germany, with projects taking shape further into Europe.

Making the most of the heat
Sources others overlook turned into supply, and stored so none of it goes to waste.

The whole system, not the parts
Heat pumps, storage and renewables are only as good as the way they’re tied into your network. That integration is the work, we do best.

Ready for procurement
Scope, interfaces and drawings prepared to the standard a tender demands — clear enough to price, solid enough to build from.

WHO WE ARE
Same people.
Same expertise.
Since 1988.
We have been designing, building and integrating thermal systems since 1988. We used to be the Low Temperature division of Aalborg CSP. Today, the work continues as aalborg hc systems, an independent company within the Alois Müller Group.

FAQ

What does aalborg hc systems deliver?

aalborg hc systems designs and delivers integrated heating and cooling systems in new and existing networks.

This includes:

  • large-scale heat pumps
  • thermal energy storage (TES and PTES)
  • integration of multiple heat sources

The focus is on complete system solutions, not standalone technologies.

Can you integrate into existing district heating plants?

Yes. Most projects involve integration into existing infrastructure. aalborg hc systems connects new technologies to:

  • existing networks
  • boilers and CHP units
  • available heat sources

The result is a coordinated system upgrade, not a replacement of existing assets.

Do you act as EPC contractor?

Yes. aalborg hc systems delivers projects on an EPC basis.

This covers:

  • engineering and system design
  • procurement and supplier coordination
  • construction and commissioning

The responsibility remains with one party from concept to operation.

Which heat sources can you integrate?

aalborg hc systems utilises and integrates multiple heat sources, including:

  • wastewater
  • geothermal energy
  • ambient air
  • seawater
  • river water
  • drinking water cooling
  • industrial excess heat
  • waste heat

Solutions are designed as source-agnostic systems, optimised for local conditions.

What do you need to get started?

A project can start with a limited set of data:

  • heat demand profile (load curve)
  • supply and return temperatures

Based on this, aalborg hc systems defines a first system concept and integration approach.
